Manama, As many as 95 projects from 56 countries are vying for the 2022 UNESCO-King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa Prize for the Use of Information and Communication Technologies in Education, Education Minister, Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, has announced.
This confirms the great value of the prestigious prize launched by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and endorsed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Dr. Juma said.
According to the minister, the list of participating countries includes Argentina, Bangladesh, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, France, Ghana, Italy, Kenya, Lao, Nicaragua, Senegal, Slovakia, South Africa, Thailand, Turkmenistan, Rwanda, Malaysia, Guinea, Russia, Mongolia, Germany, Iran, Liberia, Mauritius, Zambia, Portugal, Trinidad and Tobago, Romania, Côte d’Ivoire, Ireland, Mozambique, Peru, Indonesia, Cyprus, Ukraine, Zimbabwe, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Madagascar, Afghanistan, Estonia Maldives, Burundi, China, Egypt, Oman, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Palestine, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Kingdom of Bahrain.
The minister indicated that the award jury had met on 14-16 February 2023 to discuss the nominated projects, adding that the final results will be announced in the near future.
Established in 2005, the UNESCO-King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa Prize for the Use of Information and Communication Technologies in Education recognises individuals, institutions and non-governmental organisations that adopt best practices and innovative uses of information and communication technology to enhance learning, education and educational performance in general, in order to achieve the goals of UNESCO in terms of providing quality, inclusive and equitable education for all.
The theme of the 2022 edition is “Using Public Platforms to Ensure Universal Access to the Contents of Digital Education”.
