AMDJARASS: The Emirati humanitarian team in the Chadian city of Amdjarass continues implementing its humanitarian and relief programmes for Sudanese refugees and the local community in the city and surrounding villages.

As part of its Ramadan campaign, the team comprising the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, and the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation collaborated with the Red Cross of Chad to distribute essential items. These included household items, kitchen utensils provided by the Zayed Foundation, and dates to disadvantaged families.

Jassim Al Naqbi, Representative of ERC, affirmed the team’s dedication to ramping up its humanitarian efforts before Ramadan to cater to the needs of underprivileged families during the Holy Month.

He noted that the team coordinated with the Red Cross of Chad to assess the needs in remaining villages, towns, and Sudanese refugee camps, stressing their unwavering commitment to meeting the needs of vulner
able families and responding to humanitarian appeals, particularly during Ramadan.

In another initiative, the Emirati team, in partnership with the Red Cross of Chad, visited a Sudanese refugee camp and distributed 1,000 school bags from the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation.

Abdulrahim Jani, Representative of the Khalifa Foundation, highlighted the conclusion of a campaign benefiting five schools in the camp, totalling over 7,500 bags distributed since the start of the academic year, containing all essential school supplies.

He reiterated the Emirati team commitment to supporting educational endeavours despite the challenges faced by students in refugee camps, as part of the UAE’s ongoing humanitarian efforts to support Sudanese refugees and alleviate their suffering.

The beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the UAE’s support and the team’s continuous efforts, particularly in supporting education in the camp, emphasising the significant relief provided to the students’ families.
