ABU DHABI: The Conformity Assessment Services Department of the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (ADQCC) has approved personnel services conformity programmes for eight professions in the oil and gas sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

This follows the completion of the pilot programme and final tests of the Personnel Services professional conformity programmes for workers in the oil and liquefied petroleum gas fields. The evaluation process assessed the skills and competencies of 100 workers in two stages, aligning them with the targeted professions within the eight conformity programmes.

The targeted professions include a copper pipe installation technician, a precision instrumentation electrician, a gas pipe fitter, a gas pipe welding assistant, a liquefied petroleum gas cylinder transportation assistant, a service metre connection and disconnection reader, an operations boy, and a carbon steel pipe installation welding technician.

The accreditation and practical tests for these professions aim
to ensure that oil and liquefied petroleum gas workers possess the necessary skills and competencies to perform their tasks effectively and safely. The results of these tests will enhance and refine the conformity requirements for the targeted professions in the future.

Badr Khamis Al Shemaili, Executive Director of the Conformity and Standards Services Sector, expressed his satisfaction with adopting conformity programmes for individuals’ services for targeted professions and conducting practical tests. He expressed his gratitude to the Department of Energy for its constructive cooperation and partnership in conducting and evaluating these tests.

Al Shemaili also emphasised the significance of collaboration between the government and private sectors in executing and evaluating conformity programmes to elevate the quality and performance standards in the oil and liquefied petroleum gas sector in Abu Dhabi.
