BEIJING: China-Europe freight train services registered solid expansion in terms of network coverage and freight growth in the first quarter of 2024, data from China’s railway operator showed Sunday.

China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. (China Railway) stated that during the initial three months, there were a cumulative total of 4,541 journeys undertaken by China-Europe freight trains, facilitating the transportation of approximately 493,000 TEUs of goods. This marks a respective increase of 9 percent and 10 percent in comparison to the preceding year.

According to China Central Television, several factors have contributed to freight growth. The first one is the expansion of the China-Europe freight train network. Second, transport efficiency and capability have been elevated at ports. Third, transportation service quality has been improved overtime.
