Emirati climate activist Ghaya Al Ahbabi, the youngest youth climate advocate of the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), stressed that children and youth are essential partners in climate action, as well as supporting all global efforts aimed at protecting the environment, preserving its resources, and promoting sustainability in all aspects of life.

Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of COP28 in Dubai, Al Ahbabi praised the support shown by the UAE’s leadership to youth, adding that COP28 is the first time that a COP is witnessing a massive participation of children and youth.

Climate action and establishing a sustainable environment are a collective responsibility, she stated, emphasising that protecting the environment and preserving its resources constitute the basis of any achievement made in all fields.
