Egypt keen to promote cooperation with BP – Sisi

Egypt is keen on promoting joint cooperation with British Petroleum (BP) company, said President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, pointing out to the long-standing history and operations of the company in the country.

President Sisi’s remarks came during his meeting Monday with CEO of British Petroleum (BP) Bernard Looney, on the sidelines of the Egyptian Petroleum Show 2022 (EGYPS 2022) and in the presence of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Tarek el Molla.

President Sisi, meanwhile, issued directives to continue coordination and cooperation with the British company and overcome any obstacles that may hinder its operation, with the aim of continuing its gas and oil exploration and production in Egypt.

He further underlined the distinguished partnership between Egypt and all the British companies, as part of the distinguished ties binding Egypt and Britain.

The meeting took up ways of boosting joint cooperation with the BP, which is considered the biggest oil producer in Egypt, said Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady.

The meeting also tackled the BP’s investment plans within the upcoming years in Egypt, added the spokesman.

Looney, for his part, hailed the wise leadership of President Sisi, saying that this has contributed to putting Egypt on the development path at the regional and international levels.

He also hailed the distinguished ties binding Egypt and Britain in the various spheres.

The British official affirmed that Egypt was and will remain a strategic partner of BP, praising Egypt’s remarkable achievements in the field of energy and the diversity of its resources.
