RAMALLAH: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said the UN Security Council’s adoption of a resolution on delivering aid to Gaza is a step in the right direction, despite its delay.
It said that the adoption of the UAE-backed resolution is a step in the right direction to stop the Israeli aggression, war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide, starvation, and deprivation of the means of life that the Israeli killing machine practices daily against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
The ministry praised the tireless efforts of brotherly and friendly countries in order for the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities to protect Palestinian civilians, stop the aggression, ensure the entry of all aid to our people and reject their forced displacement.
The Foreign Ministry thanked Egypt and the UAE, the countries that sponsored the decision, and everyone who contributed to this modest achievement, which did not live up to the level of aspirations, challenges, and responsibilities,
however, it considered it a step that may contribute to alleviating the suffering of our people in the Gaza Strip, and to adding pressure on those countries that deliberately obstructed or postponed the adoption of the ceasefire, as it was in its initial form.
The Ministry stressed the necessity of accelerating the implementation of this decision, and for the Secretary-General to submit his reports on the implementation of the decision and other decisions, and to form the mechanism adopted by the decision.
The Foreign Ministry also affirmed the need for the Security Council to implement its decisions regarding addressing the roots of this barbaric Israeli aggression, as well as the need to end the Israeli occupation, realize the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, and achieve the two-state solution as stipulated in the Security Council resolution.
