RIYADH: The King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language (KSGAAL) has announced the launch of its Productive Skills Evaluation Courses (Speaking and Writing). Designed specifically for teachers of Arabic as a Second Language (ASL), these courses aim to enhance their expertise in evaluating students’ speaking and writing skills, ultimately bolstering the global reach and impact of the Arabic language.

This initiative represents one of several new training programmes implemented by the KSGAAL. Through these specialised courses, participants will gain valuable insights into scientific assessment methods aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). This framework provides a standardised approach to language learning and assessment, facilitating a more structured and effective learning experience for ASL students.

The programme also welcomes the participation of individuals involved in evaluating productive skills in any second or foreign language setting. This includes faculty
members, administrative staff, and practitioners with at least three years of experience in relevant fields, both within Saudi Arabia and abroad.

The KSGAAL will offer six training courses in the first and second quarters of 2024. Some courses will be conducted in-person at the KSGAAL headquarters in Riyadh for participants residing within Saudi Arabia, while others will be delivered virtually to accommodate international participants. Each course will span twelve hours distributed over four training days, covering a carefully curated selection of topics directly relevant to the participants’ professional development.

The first course is scheduled to take place in Riyadh at the KSGAAL’s headquarters from 18th to 21st February. The remaining courses will be held from March to May 2024.
