Lavrov, Safadi affirm necessity of preserving Syria’s territorial integrity, resolving crisis politically

Amman, SANA-Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has reiterated the need to preserve Syria’s territorial integrity and to resolve the crisis in it politically.

Lavrov’s remarks came during a press conference with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi in Amman today.

“We discussed regional and international issues, paid special attention to the situation in Syria, and stressed the need to preserve its territorial integrity, respect its sovereignty, and the right of its people to decide their future away from any external interference,” Lavrov said.

He added “Finding a political solution to the crisis in Syria, and the need to activate the work on facilitating the entry of humanitarian aid into the country in accordance with UN resolutions were also on the table.”

For his part, Safadi underlined the need to support efforts aimed at reaching a political solution to the crisis in Syria, respecting its sovereignty, territorial integrity, eliminating terrorism, and ensuring its security and stability.
