President of the National Council for Women (NCW) Maya Morsi said on Tuesday27/9/2022, according to figures, women’s participation in the labor market contributes to increasing the GDP by 34%, noting the council works on eliminating all forms of discrimination against women in the labor market.
Morsi was speaking during a high-level panel discussion on gender equality as a catalyst for achieving the sustainable development goals and Africa Agenda 2063 goals as a part of the 8th edition of the Africa Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF).
Morsi pointed out that the council works with related bodies to raise awareness about the importance of women’s participation in the labor market and training more women in several sectors, referring to the council’s support for women who are working in the private sector.
The NCW chairman asserted the importance of coordinating among all female ministers to integrate women into the state’s agenda and its programs and government budgets.
During her speech, she mentioned the launch of the Nora initiative and laws on combating all forms of violence against women.
