New York: Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf said in his country’s speech to the UN Security Council on Tuesday that the goal of his delegation is to put an end to the bloodshed in Gaza.

During the meeting, which was held to discuss the Palestinian issue, Attaf added that humanity must face three challenges:

The need to respect decisions, laws, and regulations.

Ensuring that no member state believes that it has the right to receive special treatment or immunity.

Forcing Israel to respect international law and put an end to the current crisis in Gaza.

Attaf said that “we need to bring together international judicial bodies to bring Israel to justice,” welcoming South Africa’s case at the International Court of Justice and initiatives from countries such as Chile, which has submitted a petition to the International Criminal Court.

Attaf called on international judicial bodies to “carry out their mandate,” urging all members of the Security Council to assume their responsibilities, especially the urgent
priority of “ensuring a ceasefire and working quickly to achieve a two-state solution.”

He stressed that “to preserve the basis of a two-state solution, it requires inviting Palestine to become a full member state of the United Nations.”
