RAMALLAH: The State of Palestine condemned the announcement by the Argentinian President Javier Milei of his intention to move his country’s embassy to Israel to the occupied city of Jerusalem.

Palestine stressed that this declaration contradicts the principles of international law and UN Security Council resolutions, especially Resolution No. 478, which stipulates a call on countries that established diplomatic missions in Jerusalem to withdraw these missions.

The State of Palestine considered that announcing this decision at this particular time, when the occupation is committing genocidal massacres, ethnic cleansing, and forced displacement against the Palestinian people, reflects President Milei’s insistence on dragging his country to the wrong side of history, and a direct assault on the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state, which was recognized by Argentina and most countries of the world.

The State of Palestine affirmed its rejection of any action or attempt that woul
d ignore the legal status of the occupied city of Jerusalem, calling on President Milei not to take this illegal step, warning of its dangerous consequences and repercussions at all levels.
