Palestinian political prisoner in Israeli jails Wa’el Nabil Nairat completes today 19 years behind Israeli prison bars, according to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS). Nairat, who hails from the town of Meithalun in the northern West Bank province of Jenin, was arrested on 13 August 2004, and was sentenced to 25 years in prison for his resistance of the Israeli occupation. Nairat is married and has one daughter. His father died in 2014, and he was denied his right to bid him a farewell. Israeli authorities are currently incarcerating more than 4,800 Palestinian prisoners for resisting its occupation of their homeland.
