The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Department issued a statement today, in which it indicated that within the framework of the continuous efforts of ISF’s Information branch to uncover drug trafficking and smuggling networks and arrest their members, confirmed reports revealed an operation underway to smuggle a large amount of “Hashish” and “Captagon” pills outside Lebanese territory, through the port of Beirut.

“Subsequently, the Information branch intensified its investigations and search operations, and was able to locate the shipment at Beirut’s port and place it under surveillance while identifying the smuggling network members, including two Lebanese and one Syrian,” the statement added, noting that approximately 2,200,000 Captagon pills and about 2 tons of Cannabis were seized as a result.

The legal measures were taken against the culprits and the confiscated drugs were submitted to the concerned judiciary, as efforts continue to arrest the fourth network suspect.
