The Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary forces have agreed on a 72-hour armistice starting at Tuesday midnight under Saudi and US mediation.
The Sudanese army said in a statement that it agreed on the truce with the condition that “insurgents” cease all hostile activities.
As for the RSF, it affirmed its commitment to the ceasefire agreement while also warning the other side of breaching it.
Speaking to the press, Spokesperson on behalf of the political process, Khaled Yousef, stated that this agreement is unlike its predecessors as it does not solely revolve around humanitarian issues.
The three-stage agreement is more detailed, clarified Yousef, saying that it had specified mechanisms necessary to arriving at a final agreement.
Sudan doctors union announced that tally of civilian clash victims reached 273 deaths, and 1,579 injuries, adding that 55 out of 79 hospitals have shut down due to raging fighting.
