Syria calls for ending the Israeli occupation of Syrian Golan

Syria’s permanent representative to the United Nations Office and International Organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Houssam al-Din Ala, renewed Syria’s demand to end the Israeli occupation of the Syrian Arab Golan and stop its crimes and aggression in the Palestinian people.

“The violation of international law and UN resolutions, including the resolutions of this Council, is still the most prominent title of the acts of the Israeli occupation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and in the occupied Syrian Golan.” Ambassador Ala said in a statement on Friday before the 48th session of the Human Rights Council.

Ala said that “Israel “continues its illegitimate practices to perpetuate its occupation through the establishment and expansion of settlements, land grabs, looting of natural resources, and the transfer of residents to the occupied lands within the framework of the organized demographic change that it is practicing, disregarding its obligations under international law.

“The Israeli occupation continues its illegal measures and settlement activities in the occupied Syrian Golan, which violate the 4th Geneva Convention and Security Council resolutions, where the people of Golan are facing, with determination and insistence , the Israeli plans aimed at forcing them to leave their land by besieging their villages and cities with settlements and settlement plans, preventing them from demographic and urban expansion, stealing their natural resources and harnessing them to serve settlements, and obstructing the marketing of agricultural products that constitute the main source of their livelihood.” The Ambassador added.

Ala went on to say that Syria warns against the giant wind turbine scheme that the Israeli occupation authorities are working to establish on an area of six thousand dunums of agricultural land owned by Syrian citizens.
