Syria and Iraq discussed on Monday means of enhancing bilateral relations in the food, economic and trade domains.

That came during a meeting between Syrian Ambassador in Baghdad, Sattam Jadaan al-Dandah and Secretary-General of the Iraqi Council of Ministers, Hamid al-Ghazi.

The General Secretariat of the Iraqi Council of Ministers said in a statement that the discussions dealt with frameworks of joint cooperation between Syria and Iraq in the trade and economic fields, as well as the domain of food, which is one of the most important resources that contribute to supporting the national product of the two countries.

Both sides underlined the importance of close historical relations that bind the governments and peoples of the two brotherly countries.

During the talks, Secretary-General of the Iraqi Council of Ministers said that the two countries are currently witnessing stability after being targeted by Takfiri terrorist organizations.

In turn, the Syrian Ambassador said, in a statement to SANA correspondent, that the meeting was fruitful and positive, and dealt with all prospects of cooperation in the field of trade and economic exchange and investing the two countries’ energies in the food sector in a way that would serve the two brotherly peoples.

Al-Dandah added that the continuous Syrian-Iraqi cooperation in all fields affirms the two countries’ keenness to develop bilateral cooperation and to face all challenges.
