STAVROPOL, Russia, 13th October, 2023 (WAM) — A delegation from the Emirates News Agency (WAM) is participating in an international forum titled “North Caucasus in the Focus of International Cooperation of Russia,” in the Stavropol Krai, a federal subject of Russia, on October 13th-14th.The forum brings together more than 160 representatives of government bodies of all levels, development institutions, representatives of educational and scientific organisations, cultural figures, young scientists, leading Russian experts, and leading media figures from the UAE, Azerbaijan, Egypt, India, Iraq, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Mauritius, Mozambique, Kyrgyzstan, Turkiye, China, Syria, South Ossetia, and others.Ali Yosef Al Saad, Acting Deputy Director-General, Director of the Communication and International Relations Office (A), who’s leading WAM’s delegation to the forum, participated in a discussion session titled “Strategies of Public Diplomacy in the Modern World – The Role of the Media in Forming the Image of a
State”. During his remarks, Al Saad emphasised the importance of a strong media industry to defend the capabilities of nations and protect them from external interference and the spread of misinformation.He also highlighted the role of the media in promoting the status of the United Arab Emirates, strengthening its position on various issues and supporting its regional and international efforts across all fields.He noted the significant coverage the North Caucasus region boasts in the Arab media, highlighting the tourist attractions in Stavropol Territory, Kabardino-Balkaria, Chechnya, and Dagestan.The forum addressed the main issues of priority importance for Russia and the North Caucasus, notably resources for the development of international cooperation, including competitive education, modern sciences, the hospitality industry, cultural interaction in a changing world, and international transport corridors.The Forum is a hybrid event that combines a traditional in-person format with expert discussions on
current issues of building strategic interaction with foreign countries, as well as an online format that offers a variety of interactive opportunities for remote participants.The forum is organised by North Caucasus Institute – branch of RANEPA and the Centre for Contemporary Caucasian Policy “Caucasus”. It’s under the custody of the Gorchakov Foundation, the Office of the Full Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the North Caucasus Federal District, and the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation.
