YouTube on Friday lifted restrictions on former US President Donald Trump’s account, which was suspended two years ago after the Jan. 6 attack on the US Capitol.

‘We carefully evaluated the continued risk of real-world violence, while balancing the chance for voters to hear equally from major national candidates in the run up to an election,’ YouTube said in a statement.

‘This channel will continue to be subject to our policies, just like any other channel on YouTube,’ it added.

YouTube was among the social media platforms that suspended Trump’s accounts after the deadly Jan. 6 riot in 2021, saying that Trump’s channel “violated” their policies.

Facebook and Twitter previously restored the former president’s accounts.
