1st container freight train operated from Sokhna to West Port Said port

The trial operation of a railway linking West Port Said and Sokhna has been successfully completed, the Suez Canal Economic Zone said in a statement Friday 03/12/2021.

 

The first container freight train has arrived at West Port Said port coming from Sokhna port with a load capacity of 50 TEUs, it added.

 

The Suez Canal Economic Zone has developed a joint action plan with the Port Said Container Handling Company, along with DP World, the Egyptian Customs Authority and its affiliated departments in the ports of Sokhna and West Port Said, and the authorities concerned, to solve the low trading rates crisis that West Port Said recently witnessed and work to quickly meet the requirements of investors and customs extractors in Port Said, within the framework of the authority’s strategy to improve the business climate, the zone’s chairman Yehia Zaki said.
