2013 disasters ‘consistent’ with human-made climate change: UN

GENEVA: Disasters in 2013 including Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines and drought in Australia are consistent with the human role in climate change, the head of the UN’s weather agency said Monday.
“Many of the extreme events of 2013 were consistent with what we would expect as a result of human-induced climate change,” said Michel Jarraud, secretary general of the World Meterological Organization, adding that there was “no standstill” in global warming.
