Abu Dhabi set for open 9-ball championship

Dubai: The Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) and UAE Billiards and Snooker Association (UAE BSA), in cooperation with Pro 9 Sports, will host the 2013 Kolluna Al Emarat Kolluna Khalifa International 9-Ball Open Championship from November 23-30.

Held under the patronage of Shaikh Nahyan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the second edition of the tournament is being held to mark the 42nd UAE National Day.

There will be four qualifying rounds held in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah, while the semi-final and final will take place at the Marina Mall in Abu Dhabi on November 29 and 30.

World-renowned trick shot artist Florian ‘Venom’ Kohler from France is scheduled to exhibit some of his moves at the Marina Mall at 6pm on November 28, 29 and 30.

Abu Dhabi’s group matches will be held at the Hilton Capital Grand from November 23 to 28, with 128 players from around the region divided into 16 groups. Play on all five days will be from 11am to 11pm.

The tournament is being held with the hope of drawing more talent to the sport while fostering a spirit of communication among young players.
