Baghdad Adviser to the Prime Minister, Hussein Allawi, confirmed, on Friday, that support from the American side will be limited in the future to training.
Allawi said in a televised statement that “the technical committee will work according to the results of the strategic dialogue in its third phase, which went to reduce the number of advisors and the absence of combat forces in Iraq.”
Earlier, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi agreed with the Commander of the US Central Command, General Kenneth McKinsey, to hold the first session of the Specialized Technical Committee, in order to develop mechanisms for implementing the outcomes of the third round of the strategic dialogue.
The media office of the Prime Minister said in a statement that “Al-Kadhimi received McKinsey and during the meeting they discussed the relationship between Iraq and the United States of America and the International Alliance, as the two sides discussed developments in the field conditions and joint coordination in the war against the terrorist organization ISIS, especially in light of the great growth in the capabilities of the Iraqi forces.
