Under the motto “Tree is the life’s lung” , Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform held a celebration on the 70th anniversary of Tree Day in Jweirat site in Qudsaya in Damascus countryside with the participation of Prime Minister, Hussein Arnous.
Delivering a speech, Arnous said “ we are celebrating today the Tree Day that has become an annual tradition having a great interest and support from the State and care by President Bashar al-Assad in both word and deed through the spiritual support and the earnest participation in planting works, a thing that represents a message of the importance of the tree.
Premier Arnous added that celebrating the Tree Day is linked to “the approach of patriotism and loyalty” and it embodies the civilisation , social and environmental role of the tree in our life.
Arnous stressed that achieving the sustainable development is a collective and society responsibility that requires partnership among the governmental bodies and the private sector along with civil society, calling on all citizens to preserve the trees away from cutting down, stop overgrazing or burning and to replant them in every field and farm.
