Deputy Prime Minister, Caretaker Minister of National Defense, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Zeina Akar, on Thursday received in her office the newly appointed United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Ms. Joanna Wronecka, accompanied by Deputy Special Coordinator for Lebanon and Coordinator of Humanitarian Affairs, Ms. Najat Rochdi.
Discussions touched on the current Lebanese situation amid the prevailing political and economic crisis, and the need for the international community to support Lebanon and its people to overcome this crisis.
Talks also dwelt on the situation in the region and the issue of the displaced Syrians and related humanitarian aid.
On the other hand, Akar received copies of the credentials of three new ambassadors accredited to Lebanon, notably the ambassadors of the Republic of Sweden, the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of the Philippines.
Minister Akar also met with Spanish Ambassador to Lebanon, José Maria Ferré, with talks reportedly touching on the bilateral relations and means to bolster them.
Akar later received former Minister Weam Wahhab over the current general situation.
