Moscow, Sergey Vershinin, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation discussed with Bashar al-Jaafari, Syria’s Ambassador in Moscow, the developments in Syria and the region, and the constant bilateral coordination.
“The meeting stressed the need for consensus of the international action on Syria to comply with international legal rules, leading to lifting of unilateral economic measures and reconstruction of civil infrastructure of pressing importance.” Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Friday.
The statement pointed out that the talks also underlined that the essence of the political process led and implemented by the Syrians themselves, with the support of the UN, is to respect the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Syria.
