An exciting day for tennis

Sunshine and tennis, what better scenario could one ask for?

Tennis enthusiasts were enjoying the weather and eagerly waiting for the results of the semifinals on day five of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship. Taras Kozyk and Anastasiya Kushnir, Russian nationals residing in Dubai, have been here since the morning. Kozyk said: “We are hoping to see Russian victory and we have a huge Russian flag that we will be taking with us when watching the games. All our friends are here too and we are absolutely loving it.”

Kozyk and his friends were delighted with the results of the Ladies’ Doubles semifinals game where Russian players Anastasia Rodionova and Alla Kudryavtseva defeated Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Safarova 6-4, 6-4.

The Ladies’ Singles semifinals was the crowd puller of the day.  Ahmad Al Suwaidi was found eagerly waiting for the match to begin. He said: “I’m a huge fan of the Williams sisters and I hope that both of them make it to the finals as it would be an amazing match!”

As the first semifinal between Venus Williams and Caroline Wozniacki began, the atmosphere in the stadium suddenly became charged. The level of excitement was far beyond words. The sound of cheering was overpowering the music as the players walked in. Once play began, the spectators were at the edge of their seats. You got the sense that this is a very important match. Everyone was eagerly waiting for the results.
Although most people may be here for the tennis, Diana Sosa is here all the way from Spain to enjoy the atmosphere and mingle with friends. It seems like The Village is the place to be this weekend!
