President Michel Aoun met on Wednesday with Minister of Economy and Trade, Raed Khoury, who informed him of the outcome of his recent visit to Russia, stressing that both the Lebanese and Russian sides have agreed to bolster communication and trade.
"I put the President in the picture of our recent visit to Russia, It was a fruitful trip, where we tackled the means to develop economic development. We were met with great response by the Russians, who are deeply interested in Lebanon. We also discussed reconstruction in Syria," Khoury told reporters following the meeting.
"We hope that President Aoun will pay a visit to Russia to meet with his Russian counterpart," he added.
"The concerned [sides] will work on finding the suitable frame to open branches of Russian banks in Lebanon and vice versa," he said.
Separately, Aoun welcomed Independence Movement chief, Michel Aoun, with whom he discussed the current situation on the local scene.
He later met with former minister Karim Pakradouni over the election law issue.
Furthermore, Aoun received Head of Beirut Cultural Festivals Committee, Lama Tammam Salam, who presented him with an invitation to attend the festivities that shall start on forthcoming June 28.
