President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, told a delegation of the Syndicate of Editors whom he welcomed this Wednesday at the Baabda Palace that "controlling the media is not a restriction to freedoms, but a commitment to the ceiling of truth."
On the repatriation of displaced persons, Aoun said "We refuse to wait for a political solution for the return of the displaced. Our experience with the Palestinian cause, in this context, is in no way encouraging."
President Aoun stressed that "no authority is higher than that of the army and the security forces, which have recently carried out major security operations in the region and established security and stability."
The president expressed fear that "what we are witnessing on our southern border in terms of a Jewish national entity may be a justification for what can happen in Syria," uttering surprise over "the positions of some of the major countries that do not make any effort for the return of the displaced, and seek to prevent us from working to achieve this return."
Dwelling on the governmental situation, President Aoun was surprised by the rumored differences within the government even before it could meet, or without giving it at least a few days of grace period," stressing "there are no differences within the government and it will be a successful one."
