President Michel Aoun on Monday expressed gratitude for "the support Lebanon is receiving from the Islamic Republic of Iran at all levels, on the basis of the friendship ties between the two countries."
During his meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif at Baabda palace, Aoun maintained that the displaced Syrians' issue requires a solution that takes into account the necessity of their safe return to the stable regions in Syria.
"Iran has a role in helping accomplish this return," he said.
"The new Lebanese government will pay special attention to the displaced dossier," he added.
For his part, Zarif heaped praise on the bilateral Lebanese-Iranian relations, commending President Aoun's wisdom that led to the formation of a new government.
Zarif had conveyed to his host a verbal message from President Hassan Rouhani including an invitation to visit Iran.
