ARAB LEAGUE CALLS FOR PROMPT INTERVENTION TO STOP ISRAELI CRIMES IN PALESTINE

CAIRO, Egypt, Apr 7- Arab League called for prompt intervention of the world community and institutions, and countries concerned with the peace process in the entire Middle East, namely the U.S., in order to shoulder their responsibility and immediately interfere, to put Israel under pressure, to stop ongoing crimes that it commits, on a daily-basis, against the Palestinian people, coerce it to carry out its obligations, stipulated in the world legal resolutions and all related U.N. resolutions, in order to achieve permanent and just solution, based on the two-state solution.

Arab League reiterated, in a statement announced here today, on the occasion of Deer Yassin massacre, its stress on rejecting Israeli discrimination, in treating the Palestinian people, stressing the importance of an obvious international move and intervention to halt this policy, to lay the ground for the two-state solution, in accordance with international law and resolutions and to provide international protection for the Palestinian people and their resources.

Noting the significance of reactivating Arab-sponsored Peace Initiative, adopted in the Beirut-held Arab Summit, in 2002, which envisaged a comprehensive and integrated solution for Arab-Israeli strife, based on justice, equity and realising legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, establishing their independent state, with Al-Quds as its capital and to reach an agreeable solution for Palestinian refugees’ question, the statement added.

Arab League warned Israel, in the statement, of continuing its aggressive policies and discriminatory and expansive approach that used to ignore, in disdain, all international legal resolutions, as well as human rights norms, in pursuance of imposing a fait accompli policy, that would explode any endeavour, targeting achieving comprehensive and just peace, hence destroying any opportunity to establish an independent, sovereign, interconnected and viable Palestinian state.
