The Lebanese Army Command issued a statement on Tuesday declaring that one man has been killed and another injured during a fire trade between an Army Intelligence patrol and a group of men involved in human trafficking and smuggling in the locality of Abdeh-Akkar.
One of the most wanted smugglers, Mustafa Klassina, died during the fire exchange and Bashar al-Khair was injured.
Deceased Klassina and his accomplice had planned a smuggling operation of a Lebanese and 18 Syrian nationals. They had been scheduled to sail by sea to Cyprus.
Another army patrol raided an apartment in Bahnin area and arrested 9 Syrians who were preparing to leave with the aforementioned group.
Meanwhile, investigations have been initiated under the supervision of the competent judicial authorities.
