Damascus - Syrian President Bashar al-Assad met in Damascus on Sunday with Iranian Supreme National Security Council Secretary, Ali Shamkhani, with talks centering on the latest developments.
In this context, both men stressed on "continuing to strengthen the strategic ties that unite them, particularly in light of the terrorist war witnessed in Syria."
The Syrian President considered that "liberating the city of Aleppo from the grip of terrorists is a significant milestone toward victory in the war against Syria."
However, Assad deemed that "the next stage will not be easy, as the West and its agents in the region continue to support terrorist organizations' infidels."
He added: "Syria is continuing, with the help of its friends, led by Iran and Russia, to do whatever possible to provide suitable grounds for finding a solution that would enable Syrians to decide the future of their country without any foreign interference."
For his part, Shamkhani said that Iran "will spare no effort in strengthening the steadfastness of the Syrians, since defeating terrorism is a fateful cause for all people in the region who wish to restore peace and security."
