ADDIS ABABA, Jan 24 — African Union Commission (AUC) Chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma on Friday expressed condolences to the Royal family and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the death of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz.
“King Abdullah was a moderate reformer who has driven his country’s political and economic development forward. The King advocated for women’s rights particularly in the areas of education, political participation and economic independence,” Dr. Dlamini Zuma said in her message.
“Under his leadership, Saudi Arabia changed to become more progressive and inclusive,” she added.
The King died on Jan 22 at the age of 90 and he has since been buried.
