Minister of Awqaf (Religious Endowments) Mohammad Abdul-Sattar al-Sayyed said that the Islamic union can only be achieved through unifying the efforts of religious institutions in the world to confront extremism and terrorism from which Syria has suffered for ten years.
Al-Sayyed’s remarks came at the Islamic Unity Conference currently being held in Abu Dhabi under the theme: “Islamic Unity: The Concept, Opportunities and Challenges”,
In his speech, al-Sayyed noted that unification of efforts and the relationship between Islamic countries should be based on respect for homelands and the values of citizenship.
The Minister stressed that necessity of protecting the youths from the clutches of extremists through a moderate and modern religious discourse.
It is not permissible to raise arms in the face of the state under the pretext of jihad, as terrorist groups do, the Minister added.
He thanked UAE ‘s government and people for their stances towards Syria.
