House Speaker, Nabih Berri, received Tuesday in Ain el-Tineh, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, in the presence of EU Ambassador Christina Lassen.
Talks reportedly touched on the bilateral cooperation and current developments.
Mogherini expressed the EU'S readiness for further cooperation with Lebanon, especially after the formation of the government at the level of reforms and economy.
Speaker Berri took up the issue of the maritime boundaries' issue, notably that Lebanon is located on the borders of the European Union and the exploration and exploitation of its wealth constitutes the most viable hope for the economic development of Lebanon and the payment of its debts.
Berri urged the EU to play an effective role in the delimitation of maritime borders, and the need to understand the Lebanese position on the repatriation of the Syrian brethrens to their homeland.
