Madrid: Athletic Bilbao held on the fourth place in Spanish La Liga after a 0-0 draw at Celta Vigo.
The draw give Bilbao a four-point advantage over fifth-placed Villarreal, but far behind top three clubs, which shared the same 57 points with Barcelona setting the pace ahead of Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid thanks to goal differences, reported Xinhua.
Celta had the whip in hand throughout but were kept at bay by a Bilbao defence well marshalled by veteran Carlos Gurpegui.
Celta’s Brazilian striker Charles came closest to breaking the deadlock on four occasions.
The draw in Monday’s match left Celta in the 11th place, their highest position all season. Even so, coach Luis Enrique insisted he was not pleased with the result.
“I am never satisfied with a draw. We really should have won, but we lacked composure in front of goal.”
