New York, SANA- The UN Security Council on Monday adopted resolution no. 2672 to confirm the re-authorization of cross-border aid deliveries into Syria for another six months, till July 10, 2023.

Resolution 2672 confirms Resolution 2642 of July 2022, which decides to extend the authorization for aid deliveries through the crossing at Bab al-Hawa for six months till Jan. 10, 2023, and decides that a further extension of an additional six months will require a separate Security Council resolution.

Following adopting the resolution, Syria’s permanent representative to the United Nations in New York Ambassador Bassam Sabbagh underlined that encouraging and supporting the early recovery activities is a fundamental base for improving the humanitarian situation in Syria, along with limiting the dependency of the humanitarian aids.

Sabbagh underlined that the West’s continued politicization of humanitarian work, absence of any real will to achieve progress in the humanitarian situation, and its continued imposition of illegal coercive measures have exacerbated the suffering of the Syrians.

Syria is making every possible effort to provide basic services to its citizens and improve their living conditions, and is cooperating with the UN to ensure that assistance is provided to all without discrimination, Sabbagh went on to say.

He pointed out the importance of establishing renewable energy projects in support of the power sector, and increasing the share of early recovery projects further within the framework of the humanitarian response plan, as well as the importance of supporting efforts aimed at providing basic services to ensure the return of refugees.
