Damien Hirst ‘Art Wars’ piece at Comic Con

Dubai: The George Lucas film Star Wars has inspired millions since its 1977 release, and UK artist Damien Hirst is no exception. Now, a Storm Trooper helmet created by him will go on display in Dubai at April’s Middle East Film & Comic Con, along with versions of the helmet created by 20 UAE-based artists in the ‘Art Wars’ exhibit. It’s the idea of the film’s prop designer, Andrew Ainsworth, who will also be present at the pop culture fair, running April 3-5 at Dubai World Trade Centre. The exhibition will also be displayed at Bloomingdale’s-Dubai at The Dubai Mall from March 20-30.

Local artists involved include Mohammad Al Mubarak, Jalal Luqman, Matar Bin Lahej, Mohammad Kanoo, Ruben Sanchez, and El Seed

The Storm Trooper helmets being used are sold in their original form at The Toy Store.
