Dubai: Delhi Daredevils will kickstart their preparations for IPL VII with a three-day preparatory camp, set to begin at the Palam Ground in Delhi on Wednesday.
Skipper Kevin Pietersen, senior players like Ross Taylor, J.P. Duminy along with the whole Indian contingent, lead by vice-captain, Dinesh Karthik will also be part of the Camp. The team will fly out to the UAE on April 12, where another extensive camp will be held before the team’s opener against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 17 in Sharjah.
Speaking about his vision about the camp, coach Gary Kirsten said: “The idea behind this short camp in India is to help the team come together and gel and thereby build a strong foundation for the bigger challenges ahead.”
The focus of the camp will be to help the team come together ahead of the long season and also special attention will be given on fielding drills, an important aspect of a T20 game.
After a miserable outing in IPL VI, The Delhi management had overhauled the entire team and support staff – though they bought back Pietersen in the February auction. His appointment has already been greeted with lot of enthusiasm by the players, as former Kolkata Knight Riders star Manoj Tiwary summed it up in a recent interview with Gulf News: “KP is one of the greats of this generation whose style I have always admired. It will be a big incentive to play under him.”
