Major Gen. Ali Abbas, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Armed Forces and Defense Minister, stated that the homeland defends itself with sacrifices that preserve its sovereignty and independence.
“Good emerges from the heroes who defend their homeland and their people,” General Abbas said in his remarks during a celebration organized by the Ministries of Defense and Culture on the occasion of the 106th anniversary of Martyrs’ Day, which was held with the presence of President Bashar al-Assad and Mrs. Asma al-Assad.
He added that from the sacrifices of the martyrs we inspire strength, firmness, faith and patriotism. “Thanks to the great sacrifices, we are here and our Syrian homeland is present,” said Gen. Abbas.
He shed light on the great attention given by the President and Mrs. Asma al-Assad to the families of the martyrs, starting from the faith in the greatness of the sacrifices.
“Our army knows no defeat and in its dictionary there is only the vocabulary “victory”, and our people deserve life and victory, he concluded.
