Dubai: Logistics company DHL has taken the first spot among the top 15 companies to work for in the UAE.
The fifteen companies that made the list were awarded at a ceremony organised by the Great Place to Work Institute UAE, part of a global research, training and consultancy firm that recognises the best workplaces in more than 50 countries in the world. The ceremony was held at the H Hotel in Dubai on Wednesday.
“The overall objective [of the event] is to increase the overall calibre of workplace practices,” David Robert, CEO of Great Place to Work in the Gulf, told Gulf News.
DHL, which ranked fifth on the annual list of top 15 companies to work for in the UAE last year, trains its employees in their current roles and offers them training to enter the roles they want to transfer to, according to Frank-Uwe Ungerer, country manager of DHL in the UAE. “We offer our employees fair pay and all the equipment needed to do their job,” he said.
Ericsson, which took the fourth spot, also provides opportunities to its employees to work or train in the company’s offices worldwide, according to Jonas Heimer, vice-president and head of strategy, marketing and communications at the company.
Ranking from second to 15th place were Microsoft, Omnicom Media Group, Ericsson, The One, FedEx Express, Marriott, Bayt, Weber Shandwick, EMC, Emirates Transport, Fun City, Hyatt, Estee Lauder and Mondelez International.
The annual list of top 15 companies to work for is based on an annual benchmarking study that assesses the level of credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie within an organisation.
