Diaz: single status makes people uncomfortable

She has romanced some of the world’s most sought-after men, from Matt Dillon to Justin Timberlake, but none has been able to tame her and, at 41, Cameron Diaz has revealed that her single status makes married women — and men — nervous.

“I think some people want other people to make the same choices in life that they have made so that they can feel good about their own choice,” said the actress, pictured, who is currently starring in the rom-com The Other Woman.

“I think that some married people have made the choice to get married, but when they see a person who is living a different way, it makes them stop and think, ‘Wait a second — you mean you don’t need to get married after all? You mean that I felt I had to get married, but you don’t feel that you have to?’ And if they weren’t too sure about their choice in the first place, that can make them very uncomfortable.”

But Diaz has not given up on romance. “I’m totally down for love,” she added. “And I now know that what is most attractive in a man to me is authenticity.

“I am attracted to someone who knows who he is. And I think that when a man shows interest in me, then it’s because he sees that I know who I am, too.”
