The delegates will also be meeting top officials of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce and leading German businessmen including Fritz Horst Melsheimer, President, and Prof. Dr. Hans-Jorg Schmidt-Trenz, CEO, Hamburg Chamber.

Led by Hisham Al Shirawi, 2nd Vice Chairman, Dubai Chamber, the trade mission also includes Hamad Bu Amim, President and CEO, Dubai Chamber, and top officials from Dubai Municipality, Empower, Drydocks World and Maritime World, DP World, Jafza and Economic Zones World, Dafza, Dubai Healthcare City, Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, and members of the press.

The 4th Dubai-Hamburg Business Forum this year will discuss joint cooperation in four key economic areas including Green Cities, Maritime, Logistics and Tourism.

Consolidating cooperation

Before his departure to Hamburg, Al Shirawi confirmed that the main objective of this trade mission is to enhance and consolidate cooperation ties between the business communities of Dubai and Hamburg which are both strategic cities in their respective regions.

“It is through our joint efforts that we have seen this forum develop into a major strategic partnership over the past seven years. Today, we look forward to a forum that is both relevant and valuable for our private sectors,’ said Al Shirawi, adding that during the forum the delegates will focus on the four strategic economic sectors that are drivers of both cities.

“The topics of panel discussions hold potential for two-way cooperation and investment in the areas of green cities, maritime, logistics and tourism which is very important as Dubai’s status of a leading destination will be reinforced significantly with the event of Expo 2020 and will also create additional scope for Dubai’s existing partnership with Hamburg,” he said.

Since its launch in 2007, the forum has become an ideal platform for joint cooperation and partnership for the business communities of Dubai and Hamburg and has led to successful economic cooperation in various sectors by investors from both cities.
