EDUCATION MINISTER, GERMAN AMBASSADOR HOLD WORKSHOP TO REVAMP EDUCATIONAL SECTOR

Higher Learning and National Education Minister, Marwan Hamadeh, and German Ambassador to Lebanon, Martin Huth, held on Thursday a German-Lebanese workshop, in the presence of a senior German delegation.

Minister Hamadeh expressed utter satisfaction holding this workshop, especially that it dealt in depth in all the details of bilateral cooperation, the next phase aimed at achieving greater stability in the educational sector, and the rehabilitation of public schools in Lebanon.

The Minister stressed the importance of the development of Lebanese-German relations, especially marking this occasion, which comes at a critical juncture for projects, aspirations, and planning for the future.

Hamadeh also lauded the German support for Lebanon, which dates way back.

"We are working to ensure coordination, communication, and support, not only under the pressure of the refugee crisis, but also for the future of the educational sector, Hamadeh explained.

In turn, German Ambassador, Martin Huth, voiced utmost content vis-a-vis today's workshop. He also stressed commitment to the policy of cooperation and participation in support of educational projects.

"We are facing challenges together, and this is an opportunity to work with the Ministry of Education for the benefit of the peoples of Lebanon and Germany alike, he said.

"We will work together on the basis of our political commitment to coordinate, affirm, and promote the freedom and sovereignty of Lebanon, especially as we intensify cooperation in times of crisis," he added.

We want to see refugees return to their country under safe conditions, Huth added, voicing interest to cooperate at all times, and not only in times of crisis.

We highly appreciate the support that Lebanon has provided to the people who embrace and educate refugees, and we appreciate the burdens it bears for this cause, the German diplomat added.

Our cooperation includes RACE 1 and RACE 2 programs, and we are following up with interest on the education of Syrian and Palestinian refugees, as well as that of Iraqis, in Lebanese official schools, Huth concluded.
