Egypt, Saudi Arabia discuss promoting environmental cooperation

Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad discussed Friday 15/10/2021 with Saudi Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen al-Fadhli boosting cooperation in the environment sphere.

 

During the meeting – that came on the sidelines of 32nd session of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment (CAMRE) – chaired by Egypt, the Egyptian minister hailed cooperation with Saudi Arabia in the field of environment protection.

 

The file of environment is a priority to the Egyptian political leadership’s agenda as Cairo has great ambitions in this regard, that runs in parallel with its development paths, Fouad said.

 

‘We are working strongly on achieving a green government, as environmental sustainability standards have been issued,’ she added.

 

Fouad also welcomed the Saudi Green Middle East initiative.

 

Meantime , the two sides discussed ways of boosting future cooperation in the various areas, including the waste field, integrated coastal management, marine policies, environmental monitoring, and the exchange of experiences in sound management of chemical materials and hazardous waste.

 

In turn, the Saudi minister voiced aspiration to cooperate with Egypt in the field of water desalination.
