Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, received in Istanbul on Sunday, Russian Defence Minister, Sergey Shoygu, amid predictions that the Turkish army is planning a new operation against terrorist organisations.
According to Turkey's Anadolu Agency, the talks mainly focused on the crisis in Syria.
Meanwhile, the Turkish Daily Sabah, said that, the Turkey-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) is fully prepared for the operation against the Democratic Union Party (PYD), considered the extension of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in Syria, adding that, Russia could provide air coverage for it.
On Saturday, Presidential spokesman, Ibrahim Kalin, said that, Turkey would continue to take all necessary measures, to protect its national security and borders.
Ankara will respond to any kind of terror threat, coming from the soil of Syria, or any other country, he added.
In Aug last year, Ankara launched the "Operation Euphrates Shield" in Syria, to free the border areas from terrorist groups
