European stock markets plummeted Monday to start the week on a lower note.

The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European market in 17 countries, fell 11 points, or 2.42%, to finish at 442.80.

The UK’s FTSE 100 declined almost 200 points, or 2.58%, to end the session at 7,548.

Germany’s DAX 30 fell 468 points, or 3%, to close at 14,959. France’s CAC 40, meanwhile, lost 209 points, or 2.9%, to finish the week at 7,001.

Italy’s FTSE MIB plummeted 1,098 points, or 4%, to 26,183. Spain’s IBEX 35 declined 326 points, or 3.5%, to 8,958.
