Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Indian School (ADIS) entered the last-four stage of the ADCB Abu Dhabi inter-school tournament with a comprehensive 165-run win over newcomers Glenelg.
Jonathan Figy and Justin D’Souza scored half-centuries while Mohammad Israfil’s 48 and 53 extras contributed to the ADIS total of 218 for two. Glenelg, in reply, were bundled out for 53 in 12 overs. With the victory, ADIS moved to second in Group A behind defending champions Cambridge High School. They next play last year’s runner-up Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Pakistan School in the semi-finals.
Figy remained unbeaten on 62 and shared a 117-run partnership for the opening wicket with Israfil after Glenelg won the toss and decided to bat first. D’Souza raised the tempo by stroking a breezy 54 with eight boundaries and put on 94 for the second wicket.
Glenelg were never in the hunt after Kushal Mohnot removed opener Salman Farshe for a duck in the first over and apart from Omar Abdullah (22) none of their batsmen reached double figures.
