Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said on Saturday 23/07/2022 that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s international tours stress the ongoing consultation with Egypt’s partners at all levels.

Speaking with Sada El Balad TV channel, Shoukry noted the Egyptian-Serbian relations are historic and special since the relations between the presidents Gamal Abdel Nasser and Josep Tito.

Shoukry pointed to the importance of the economic aspect in the Egyptian-European Union relation, stressing that achieving security and stability in the Mediterranean region is essential on which Egypt and its European partners work.

Key global challenges, including inflation and food security, impose more cooperation and coordination with Europe, the foreign minister said, adding Egypt has energy resources that can offer, while it needs more direct investments and jobs as well as localizing the technology.

The top diplomat said that Egypt looks forward that the UN climate conference, COP27, would implement what was agreed upon in previous conferences and provide funding for developing countries to assume their responsibility within the framework of climate protection and adaptation to negative phenomena.

As for Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Shoukry noted that Egypt keeps balanced relations with all its partners.

Regarding Sisi’s remarks about the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), he said that Europe widely understands the importance of Egypt’s water security and encourages the Ethiopian side to show flexibility to reach a legal deal on operating and filling the dam.

He also hailed lifting the blockade imposed on the wheat exports from Ukraine as a positive step that ease pressures on many countries that depend on imports from Ukraine and Russia including Egypt.
